Food Ethos
Food ethos- these are guidelines and principles we try to abide by, what we do to live a healthy and delicious life!
What we incorporate: always start the day with breakfast; eating in season; eat made from scratch; try to eat completely vegetarian a few days a week; have fish 2 to 3 times a week; no dairy except yogurts (and the occasional ice cream cone); we drink rice, soy and almond milk and lots of green tea; eating local and organic produce, meats, fish (wild caught ); using less sugar in all baking & cooking recipes
Our rituals: water and lemon juice first thing in the morning; especially in the winter months daily vitamin supplements: Vitamin D, Calcium Magnesium, Energy (B12), or simply taking a Berocca; lots of green tea (right now I love Mariage Frere Marco Polo and Oolong); exercising 3 to 4 times a week; always having a treat on weekends (mine happen to be pain aux raisins from Bouley bakery); always reading ingredients at all times, if you can’t pronounce you probably shouldn’t eat it!
What we try to avoid: dairy (but we have organic plain yogurts); refined sugars; red meats (try to eat animals with 2 legs never 4- although we do indulge in the occasional filet mignon); have coffee only on weekends (Its delicious but I think it disrupts sleeping patterns); additives; processed foods; too much fat; no fruit juices; too much sodium; nitrates
